providing treatment alternatives for Alabama's troubled youth
Medical services are provided by Coosa Valley Youth Services. All youth entering the detention center receive a routine medical screening after admittance to the facility. Examinations may include TB(if transferring to another program), vision, and screening for sexually transmitted diseases if the youth shows any symptoms. The medical clinic is staffed by licensed medical staff that is available to respond to health-related issues daily. Parents will be notified if any emergency medical services are needed during the youth's stay in the detention center. In addition, detention staff are trained in CPR and First Aid to ensure that they are prepared to handle emergency medical situations if they may arise.
